MegaWatt Lasers has experience in developing lasers and laser systems. The approach we take is allowing our customer to choose which components best benefit them at the level of their project from a breadboard design, to complete laser resonators, to support with software development.
Defense
MegaWatt Lasers began as a 100% military or military related company. We have developed many lasers for defense including laser range finders, lasers for material ignition and lasers for safety of pilots. We also have completed a variety of custom designs and developmental testing in our laboratory.

Materials Processing
MegaWatt Lasers’ flashlamp pumped solid state laser technology delivers concentrated energy to heat, melt or ablate a direct area of a material. This can be useful for laser ablation of material, precision drilling, micromachining, surface modification, laser engraving, and trimming material.

Scientific
We classify scientific procedures as somewhat of a “catch all” for different experimentation. This classification can be used to describe Optical Parametric Oscillators (OPO), Optical Amplifiers, Nonlinear Optics, Spectroscopy, Plasma Studies and Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS).

Research
MegaWatt Lasers takes pride in being a research oriented company. We are always happy to work with universities, students and laboratories to develop a laser to best fit their needs. For one off lasers, we typically will recommend one of our fully aligned resonators and laser drivers. Additionally, we offer use of our laboratory for testing and development, giving researchers the opportunity to evaluate concepts, characterize performance and refine their laser application.
Industrial
Similar to a material processing laser, an industrial laser is a high energy laser that affects the material interaction. Specifically, an industrial laser includes methods such as laser welding, laser cutting, laser cladding, heat treatment. hardening and additive manufacturing.
